…is now a cocoon. I found a black caterpillar munching away at a leaf on our lime tree. I left it there to do it’s business and a few weeks later I discovered that it had turned into a cocoon. I find it so fascinating how well it is camouflaged. It’s casing replicates the green of a young shoot maturing into year old wood. If not for the anchoring silk that gives it away, you could easily mistake this for an appendage of the tree. I can’t wait to see what comes out.
That would soon turn out to be a butterfly. I hope it gets a beautiful color. You must be excited.
I am! I think its a black butterfly with red and white spots. I have seen them before in the past but this is the first time I’ve taken a photo of it.
